FAQ

1. What shapes can be manufactured with the ClickFold process?

The less curvature the part has the better it is suited for our ZERO-TOOLING process. Fairly square enclosures with straight or slanted flat surfaces are the most economical to produce. Simple curves are possible and by combining simple radii with angeled surfaces. Even complex geometries can be accomplished. See 'Complex Shapes' in Catalog. KEY LIMITATION: Compound curves are not possible.

2. What are the tolerances?

Since our products are made from CNC machined and assembled parts, their design needs to allow for greater tolerances than for an injection molded part. Part dimensions and feature locations are affected by the accuracy of the CNC routers (typically +/- .004" or .1 mm) and the thickness variation of the sheet used (typically +/- 5% of the gauge). As a result, the overall tolerances on feature alignment and product dimensions are +/- .008" or .2 mm.

3. What are the size limitations?

We can create prototypes and manufacture products and parts up to 20 x 15 x 15". There are no limitations for creating a smaller size prototype, product, or part.

4. Can the product include internal braces, ribs & supports?

Yes, a key benefit of the ZERO-TOOLING process is that internal parts, that would be difficult to mold, can easily be made part of the product. Cavities for batteries, component posts or platforms, dividers to provide EMI protection, and other parts can be added internally onto the product.

5. Is it possible to add windows or battery covers?

Yes, the ZERO-TOOLING process allows us to include these kinds of features at a very low incremental cost.

6. Can I get a drawing or CAD file with a quote?

We provide CAD files only after you have placed an order. Our engineers are usually fully booked with time-critical prototyping jobs. Given the amount of requests that we receive on any given day it is impossible for us to provide CAD files or renderings to go with our quotes. Instead, We will gladly provide plastic samples, colors, and images of similar jobs. However, we will accept orders to create just CAD files. Since the design of our products is determined after the order is received, it is our policy to offer a full and prompt refund on all engineering and prototyping work in the event that we cannot fully satisfy a customer's requirements. This promise is backed by our membership and good standing with the Better Business Bureau.

7. Can ClickFold add third party componets to the product?

Unfortunatly, we are not setup for secondary assembly operations. Our staff are highly trained CNC operators and plastic fabricators allowing us to machine and fabricate plastic parts very efficiently. Employing them for basic secondary operations is cost prohibitive and would not be in your best interest. We recommend that you contact an assembly house to complete as well as package your product, for shipment to your customers. We will be glad to ship your orders directly to an assembly house or fulfillment company of your choosing.
